On 5 and 6 June 2019, another PSCE conference successfully took place in Lancaster, UK. Two workshops were collocated to the conference and were held simultaneously on June 4th. The first workshop took place as part of the IN-PREP&HEIMDALL projects and addressed the topic of transboundary cooperation in crisis management, while the second, allowed interested suppliers for the BroadWay project to meet potential partners and form tendering teams.
During our upcoming Conference in Lancaster (4-6 June), PSCE is pleased to announce the presentation of two EU-funded projects in our dedicated Workshops: IN-PREP and HEIDMALL. These workshops will be held on June 4.
Both projects are in the realm of disaster management, public protection and disaster relief (PPDR) and are intended to provide guidance and knowledge to first responders.
The project IN-PREP aims to improve collaborative response planning between the different stakeholders. The project addresses the lack of training capabilities and insufficient links in transboundary crises management. The IN-PREP system is a collaborative training platform made up of three elements:

As for the project HEIDMALL, aims at improving preparedness of societies to cope with complex crisis situations by providing a flexible platform for multi-hazard emergency planning and management, which makes use of innovative technologies for the definition of multi-disciplinary scenarios and response plans, providing integrated assets to support emergency management, such as monitoring, modelling, situation and risk assessment, decision support and communication tools. HEIMDALL fosters data and information sharing among the relevant stakeholders, maximises the accuracy of valuable information and improves population awareness.
Successful first PSCE collaborative workshop on Public Warning System 16 May 2019
Following the entry into force of the European Electronic Communications Code, Member States have until 21 June 2022 to make sure that their Public Warning System (PWS) will send alerts to people's mobile phones in the event of a natural disaster, terrorist attack or other major emergency.
On May 16th, PSCE launched an ambitious programme to support national authorities to define the requirements for the design of their national PWS based on solid experience and lessons learnt from other countries.
We are pleased to inform you that the fourth edition of the Innovation for Crisis Management (I4CM) event will be organised from 12 to 13 June 2019 in Copenhagen (Denmark), at the Kosmopol Centre.
The main aim of this event is to allow local/regional Crisis Management practitioners, solution providers and policy-makers to meet and exchange on best practices and lessons learnt, while providing related projects and initiatives with an opportunity to increase their impact and to liaise with any interested stakeholders.
Co-hosted by the Danish Red Cross this new edition will focus on volunteer management in a crisis situation, with special attention being paid to issues around organised volunteers, spontaneous volunteers and psychosocial support to volunteers. Furthermore, this edition will give the participants an opportunity to learn about the latest development regarding the organisation of the fourth DRIVER+ Trial to be organised in Eisenerz, Styria (Austria) in September 2019 and whose focus is also on Volunteer Management.
The two-day event will comprise keynote speeches, plenary discussions, interviews, dedicated workshops and hands-on sessions with trainings and roundtables. Furthermore, a marketplace will be central to the event, allowing practitioners to discover innovative Crisis Management solutions.
