11 September Workshop Success

The workshop “optimizing real time information exchange in disaster & emergency management” successfully took place in Brussels on Monday September 11th.

The COncORDE and EPISECC projects were presented to a heterogeneous audience composed of PPDR practitioners, PPDR experts, academics, EU representatives and actors from the industry. Both projects are now terminating and it has been a great opportunity to share information and reflect on the work that has been done.

Philippe Quevauviller (DG HOME), Toni Staykova (COncORDE coordinator), Georg Neubauer (EPISECC coordinator) and Marie-Christine Bonnamour (PSCE) opened the workshop and gave a warm welcome to participants.

Mr Quevauviller addressed a brief introductory speech stressing the importance of developing cross project connexions and synergies and presented DG HOME Community of User (CoU), which was developed as a means to address  the lack of interaction across different actors and disciplines.

G. Neubauer kicked off the project presentations by providing an overview of EPISECC and its conceptualization of a Common Information Space (CIS) followed project’s Proof of concept and results respectively presented by Uberto Delprato and Harold Linke.

During the second half of the workshop, T. Staykova provided an overview of the tools and features developed in COncORDE. Furthermore, J. Kantorovitch, H. Papadopoulos and S. Kraaijenbrink presented the innovations brought by the project in sectors such as data management and semantics.

The audience actively participated throughout the workshop by bringing valuable inputs and addressing interesting questions.
