8 September, the PSCE Board invited Philippe Quevauviller, Head of Security Research at DG Migration and Home Affairs at the European Commission (DG Home), to discuss the development of a Community of Users (CoU) on Secure Safe and Resilient Societies.
The CoU is an initiative from DG Home and aims to create a platform to exchange information on research results and policy updates between policy-makers, researchers and end-users on a European, national and regional level. There is a large span of policies and EU-funded research projects, leading to fragmentation of information and lost opportunities regarding possible synergies. User’s needs are insufficiently targeted and links among scientific outputs and policy objectives are often lacking. A Community of Users can be the solution for these issues.
Mr. Quevauviller presented the current state of the development of a Community of Users to the Board, which is still in its early stages. The PSCE Board and Mr. Quevauviller had a fruitful discussion about the direction CoU is taking and the possible contribution PSCE could deliver to the project.
